In the US today, Black birthers are 3 to 4 times more likely to die from complications surrounding pregnancy and childbirth than their white peers. Black women and birthers are less likely to be heard, taken seriously, or even believed when talking to medical professionals about pain or concerns about their own bodies. We as a community need to advocate for better care for our Black birthing family.
